      As a member of the National Geographic ELT US sales team, an Inside Educational Sales Consultant plans and implements effective selling strategies to achieve sales targets. The defined territory includes higher education, adult education and private language school accounts. Sales activities are conducted primarily from our Boston, MA office, with occasional travel required to close sales and attend conferences. This position represents and promotes ELT/ESL products to customers and provides post-sales support as needed to ensure successful implementation and continued adoption of NGL material. In addition, this position advises Product teams of market trends, competitive developments, and editorial or product improvement opportunities, including identifying reviewers and advisors in their territory.

      What you'll do here:

      • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes sales strategies to achieve established sales targets - Develops and maintains a Territory Plan for assigned territory with realistic sales targets for installed business and competitive takeaways.
      • Maintains an active pipeline as well as accurate records in Salesfroce.
      • Works with other National Geographic Learning team members (Product Marketing Managers, Editorial, Sales Management, Authors) to achieve territory sales objectives.
      • Develops daily plans, including appointments with key decisionmakers to prioritize outbound sales calls while managing all of the inbound communication from customers. 2. Represents and promotes National Geographic Learning products to all customers to achieve and/or exceed established sales targets and goals - Prospects, qualifies, and closes sales by phone, email contact, webinar presentations and occasional face to face presentations.
      • Uses Consultative Selling Skills framework to create lasting relationships with key instructors.
      • Promotes the National Geographic Learning brand effectively. - Actively promotes, presents, and supports digital products and services - Demonstrates strong product knowledge with the ability to communicate product features and benefits.
      • Understands competitive landscape including books in use at key accounts.
      • Develops relationships with Bookstore Managers/Buyers to maximize sell-through.
      • Identifies and reports trends that could generate new leads or opportunities. 3. Manages territory resources/budget - Qualifies sampling needs in advance to avoid excess in shipping costs and units.
      • Reviews sales and sampling reports to impact cost effectiveness of sales process.
      • Manages T&E resources effectively. 4. Manages communications and reporting - Maintain regular customer communication with with proficient use of technology communication tools. - Updates and maintains customer database (Magellan) - Provides updates and reports to manager as required - Fulfills team support roles as required - Communicates & coordinates effectively as required with other sales personnel

      • Ability to travel overnight as required to close sales and attend internal meetings
      • BA or BS degree strongly preferred
      • At least two (2) years of successful sales (or customer interaction) experience preferred
      • Direct sales, marketing or editorial experience preferred
      • Prior publishing sales experience preferred
      • Experience working with digital sales products/applications preferred
      • Experience using contact management systems, such as Siebel or Salesforce.com preferred

      Base Pay Range

      The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

      $18.00 - $29.00 USD
