The primary role is to provide an environment that supports the emotional, physical, and academic well-being of all students in our residences, and in particular to help new students make a successful transition to the University. Accommodation is therefore managed by a professional staff whose key purpose is to ensure the pastoral care of residents and to support their academic efforts.

      Job Description

      Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

      Due to the expansion of the Accommodation team to incorporate a new night team structure, we are looking for two Night Managers to oversee the teams. Reporting to the Resident Managers for Waipārūrū Hall & Carlaw Park, the Night Managers have responsibility for a team of professional Night Supervisors and will lead the evening management of Accommodation across all residences within the University, providing a consistent overnight presence focusing on high quality health, safety, wellbeing and security support while delivering good administration support.

      This is a client-facing role and point of contact for all administrative and facility coordination of the Accommodation, attending to residents during the night and upholding community standards. Health, safety and security leadership is critical to this role by ensuring safety and emergency protocols and procedures, responding to and managing crisis situations and providing first aid treatment if needed. In support of the Resident Manager, this role will assist in looking after student welfare and providing advice to residents in achieving success in their studies with high degree of respect for privacy and confidentiality.

      We have two full time roles, one working Tuesday to Saturday,11pm – 7am, and one working Sunday to Thursday, 11pm – 7am.
      These are both permanent, fulltime (37.5 hours per week) opportunities.
      The remuneration is $78,500 - $97,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.

      As a pragmatic manager, you will be able to deliver a high-quality service to our student residents. As a person with great empathy, you will be attuned and responsive to the needs of the residents in your care. Experience working within a similar environment is desirable and staff management is essential. Candidates will be tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline and as responsibility for the residents’/guest health and safety will be a large component of this role.
