Company Description
NielsenIQ BookData provides a range of services to the book industry internationally, aiding the discovery and purchase, distribution and sales measurement of books.
Nielsen BookScan is the sales data monitoring service and operates in 10 countries and with our recent merger with Gfk, we now have a book market retail tracking service in 18 countries.
With this growth we have the need to be able to measure market metrics not just at a local level but an international one as well. We are undertaking two projects to look into the genre classifications across all the countries and also to look at how international publishers structure their divisions internationally.
Job Description
The first project will involve analysing the different genres and understanding the similarities and differences between separate systems. This will require looking at overall genres as well as drilling into the titles that make up the classifications.
The second project will look at the larger international publishers and how we report the structure of them at an international level. This will involve desk research across web sites and recommending changes to current structures to the BookScan teams around the world.
Qualifications
The candidate will have strong excel skills (filtering, vlook up, pivot tables) and an eye for detail. Having an understanding of different classification systems (BIC, BISAC, Thema, Product Classes) is ideal but not essential. Good interpersonal skills are essential as the role will involve communicating with teams arounds the world.
The candidate will work with the International development Lead and the Head of Research for 10 hours a week across 52 weeks with 12 weeks probation period. The role is fully remote however occasionally office visits may be required – the offices are in central London.
