Perform surgical procedures to correct congenital deformities, injuries, and illnesses
Gain experience in advanced mechanical support technologies and their application in patients from birth to adulthood
Specialize in congenital heart surgery, including cardiac transplantation, mechanical support, and repairs of thoracic vascular anomalies
Participate in heart procurement and implantation procedures as part of the cardiac transplantation program
Integrate into the cardiac surgical team, contributing to complex single and biventricular reconstructions, adult congenital heart surgery, and airway reconstructions
Stay current with advancements in pediatric and congenital cardiothoracic surgery by attending relevant seminars, conferences, and training sessions
Develop non-operative skills and contribute to multidisciplinary team management of the inpatient unit
Perform surgical procedures to correct deformities, congenital problems, injury and illness
Maintain updated records of patients’ illnesses, surgeries or other medical episodes (allergic shocks, injuries etc.)
Advocate for patients, families, and fellow staff members
Keep abreast of advancements in cardiothoracic surgery and best practices by attending seminars and conferences
Doctorate in Medicine with specialization in thoracic surgery.
Valid licenses for State of Illinois.
Board certification or board eligibility required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Passion for pediatric care.
Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
A keen eye for detail.
The ability to work as part of a team and independently.

General Summary:
The Fellow position will work in collaboration with physicians in a 12-month Instructor-level, advanced non-ACGME accredited training, designed for an individual seeking specialization in pediatric thoracic surgery and mechanical support. Lurie Children’s is a leading provider of cardiothoracic surgery for children of all ages. Pay Range
$100,000.00-$1,000,000.00 SalaryAt Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise.
