      Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is a non-profit hospital located in the beautiful city of Sarasota, Florida. From our upper floors, you can see the beautiful white sand beaches of Siesta Key, the #1 rated beach in the United States. Our health care system is rapidly growing. We have recently built an additional hospital in Venice, Florida, have added a new Cancer Institute on our Sarasota campus, and are planning a new hospital location in North Port, Florida.       The Patient Registration Representative/Medical Records Specialist is responsible for assisting the patient through the registration process while introducing the patient to the facility in a manner designed to reduce patient anxiety and works with other departments, and serves as a liaison for patients, family of patients, hospital management, and staff to ensure patient satisfaction, experience, and quality of services are maintained and improved upon when possible. The Specialist is also responsible for assisting with the processing of health information to include, but not limited to, the assembly of analysis, release of information and processing of medical records.


      Required Qualifications

      - Require a minimum three (3) years of experience in a health care and/or customer service related industry.


      Preferred Qualifications

      - Prefer typing skills of forty (40) words per minute.
      - Prefer effective communication skills and ability to handle difficult customers or situations.
      - Prefer basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
      - Prefer general knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance.
      - Prefer experience in patient interviewing.
      - Prefer flexibility for weekend, holiday, and other shift work as scheduled is required based on departmental need.
      - Prefer the ability to collect post and balance cash.
      - Prefer the ability to perform extensive clerical work with accuracy and speed.
      - Prefer the ability to be cross-trained on all processes and be able to train staff on these processes.


      Mandatory Education

      HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate

      Pay Range $18.00 to $25.50


      Preferred License and Certs

      The shifts are 3 x 12-hour day shifts with the start time of 7:00am and end time of 7:30pm or night shifts with the start time of 7:00pm and end time of 7:30am. Will require every other weekend worked and some holiday coverage; including Disaster team obligations as an essential employee.
