      The Platforms, Technologies and NPI group within Solar Turbines is on the front line of developing new, innovative products that are crucial to the success of customers in a wide range of Industries. We are looking for a motivated, creative, out of the box thinking, Mechanical Design Engineer to work in a fast-paced engineering environment using the agile development process to see Solar experience profitable growth and make our customers successful.

      The NPI Mechanical Design Engineer is the “MacGyver” of the design team. They are able to quickly assess any situation, then creatively work to engineer a new solution to make the team and customer successful. They are big picture thinkers who are able to break down the ask into fine details to support the need and solve the problem at hand. The Mechanical Design Engineer is a central figure in ensuring our products meet the functionality, quality, and safety our customers expect for Solar Turbines Products.

      We are looking for a high performing Mechanical Design Engineer to be a part of a small and elite team whose purpose is the continuous development and improvement of the new products to enable future success of our customers. The Mechanical DE works closely with the Product Owner, Scrum Master and other members of the design team to take the business and design requirements, understand their impact to the system design, then break them into actionable items to support delivering on our commitments.

      Responsibilities:

      • Help the Product Owner, Scrum Master and team translate business needs and design requirements into actionable items to develop and improve the SMT60 design
      • Work with Field Service Representatives, Supply Chain and Business Development to understand true problem that needs to be solved then be a solution provider
      • Develop creative solutions and innovative designs
      • Develop the detailed models and drawing of designs
      • Update Bill of Material and product documentation

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or commensurate Experience.
      • 3+ years of engineering experience
      • Experience with Creo and Windchill or equivalent

      Desired Skills and Experience:

      • Experience with Gas Turbine Systems and their operation
      • Experience with Ansys Spaceclaim
      • Knowledge of Linked/Configurable Data
      • Practical understanding of solid and fluid mechanics with the ability to utilize higher complexity tools as required

      Compensation & Benefits

      Base salary for this role ranges from $ 85,954.00, to $128,930.00. Typical starting salaries for this role range $94,500-$112,00. Actual salary will be based on experience. The total rewards package, beyond base salary includes:
