- Operating and maintaining chemistry equipment, and analytical instruments
- Responsible for documenting and logging chemistry data
- Participate in a thorough chemistry training program
- Sampling of radioactive and nonradioactive Plant systems and analysis of the samples using Laboratory instrumentation. Incumbent responsibilities include sampling of nuclear plant Systems, water chemistry analysis, radiochemistry analysis, Fuel oil analysis, instrument calibration/troubleshooting/ Repair, chemical addition to systems, operation of chemistry Related systems, lab QA/QC.
- Implements and Adheres to procedures and guidelines, which ensure the Chemical control of plant systems and compliance with all Regulatory requirements. All jobs must be performed in a Safe and accurate manner.
- Candidate must be able to work rotating shift with multitask Capabilities including interfacing with other groups without
- Direct supervision.
- Physical requirements include moving drums of chemical Via cart, climbing ladders greater than 50 feet
- Ability to wear/utilize SCBA, moderate work in outside Environmental conditions, and normal use of senses.
- Must qualify as an Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Environmental & Chemistry team member and live
- Within 75 minutes of the plant
- Nuclear Chemistry Technician II
- BA/BS degree in chemistry or related science or an AS degree in chemistry and four years of experience or six years nuclear navy experience or equivalent or completed the Nuclear Plant Initial Training Program for Chemistry, non-license operator, RP or equivalent.
- 2 years of work-related experience.
- Nuclear Chemistry Technician III
- BA/BS degree in chemistry or related science or an AS degree in chemistry and four years of experience or six years nuclear navy experience or Equivalent or completed the Nuclear Plant Initial Training Program for Chemistry, non-license operator, RP or Equivalent.
- 3 years of work-related experience of which 1 year must be Nuclear experience
- Nuclear Chemistry initial training program or equivalent
- US Navy ELT OR equivalent experience and training
- Related nuclear plant initial training program (Non-Licensed Operator, Radiation Protection, etc.)
- BS or BA in Chemistry
- Experience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)
- One semester of English composition or technical writing
- Previous nuclear plant chemistry or related experience
- Knowledge of nuclear plant systems
- Current qualification as a Nuclear Chemistry Technician with a nuclear utility
- Minimum of 2 years working experience involving Chemistry and Radiochemistry
- Experience with Operation and maintenance of the following equipment:
- Ion Chromatography (IC)
- Flame and Furnance AA / ICP
- Gas Chromatography
- Liquid Scintillation counter
- TOC analyzers
- Spectrophotometers
- Gamma Sepectroscopy
- Experience with the use of a Chemistry Data Management System
- Experience with the generation of liquid and gaseous release permits
- Strong team player with a focus on continual improvement
- For South Carolina positions only “SC Biological Wastewater Treatment Class “A” or “B”” or for North Carolina positions “NC Biological Wastewater Treatment Class “I” or “II””
- Must be able to obtain Nuclear Access
- Respiratory physical
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Ability to meet Chemistry essential job functions (climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling, ability to wear protective equipment, etc.)
- This role requires the use of weight rated equipment, with max ratings ranging from 275lbs to 325lbs, in order to meet the essential functions of the job.
- This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.
- Must live within 75 minutes response time to the plant.
