      Health Services- Long Term Care

      Status: Regular Full Time

      Salary Range: $100,172-$125,213 per annum plus comprehensive benefits

      Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton

      Hours of work: 35 hours per week

      Who we are: The Long-Term Care Division requires staff to provide person-centered care to our residents and families following the Butterfly Model of Care. This will ensure high levels of emotional wellbeing and a better quality of life for those living in our homes.

      Staff are to have emotional intelligence ability to deliver person-centered care in an authentic way that is meaningful to the resident and their family.

      Join our Practice, Innovation and Education (PIE) team as a Nurse Advisor and become a pivotal figure in shaping the future of resident care in our 5 Long Term Care Homes (LTCHs) across Peel!

      Your primary responsibilities will involve providing expert advice on nursing matters, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements such as the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 and Ontario Regulation 246/22

      and spearheading clinical policies and programs. Collaborate with a dynamic interdisciplinary team to elevate resident-centered care and promote interprofessional practice across the LTC division. Leverage your expertise to drive policy development, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring adherence to evidence-based best practices.

      As a Nurse Advisor, you'll lead initiatives aimed at maximizing the success potential of the nursing department. From identifying and implementing evidence-based strategies to enhancing professional practice within teams, your role will be instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence.

      What you will do in this role:

      As a resourceful Nurse Advisor, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 and Ontario Regulation 246/22. You'll monitor legislative developments, analyze proposed changes, and provide guidance on nursing-related issues, leveraging evidence-informed best practices.

      Your responsibilities will include developing and coordinating nursing and infection prevention and control (IPAC) policies, overseeing resident care programs, and evaluating divisional programs. You'll manage initiatives such as the RNAO LTC-Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) Program and collaborate on educational modules to support policy revisions and staff training.

      Conducting audits and internal reviews will be part of your role to evaluate nursing department effectiveness and compliance, with a focus on quality improvement. You'll also serve as a resource during MLTC Compliance inspections, facilitating corrective action plans and spreading improvements across the LTC Division.

      You'll lead improvement initiatives in the RAI-MDS care planning process, review quality reports, and collaborate on enhancements to electronic health records software systems. Additionally, you'll mentor nursing staff, develop education programs, and provide expert guidance on annual work plans to enhance group effectiveness.

      What the role requires:

      • Registered Nurse with B.ScN, and current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
      • Minimum four years recent experience in LTC
      • Member of Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) and other organizations relevant to the role
      • Expert in Ministry of Long-Term Care, FLTCA and regulations, and Compliance Inspection Protocols required
      • Excellent professional nursing knowledge and proficiency with an emphasis on clinical policy development
      • Vulnerable Sector Police Check & TB Skin Testing
      • Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) professional development course endorsed byIPAC Canada, CHICA or APIC-USA
      • Combination of education and experience may be considered

      Skills/Abilities:

      • Experience in nursing research, program planning and evaluation methodology
      • Good understanding of project management process
      • Working knowledge of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) and all associated quality reports
      • Formal education in principles and practices of adult education and presentation skills
      • Demonstrated ability to provide coaching and mentorship, facilitate change and continuous improvement
      • Effective skills in negotiation, conflict resolution and problem recognition with problem-solving skills
      • Advance skills in Microsoft Suite including Excel, Power Point, Access and Word, etc.
      • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

      Nice to have:

      • Masters preferred (MScN, MN, MHSc, MHA, MBA, etc.)
      • Experience as a people Leader/Manager
      • Certification in Infection Control (CIC)

      In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.

      It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario.
