The MBTA non-treating medical clinic provides Occupational Health services for Employees Additionally they are responsible for all pre-employment physical exams. The Nurse will provide professional nursing services following departmental and professional guidelines, working independently or with supervision from the Manager of medical operations and the Medical Director.
- Conduct interviews and record medical histories of employees or applicants.
- Assist the Doctor or Manager of Medical Operations in conducting physical examinations.
- Administer electrocardiograms, preparing results for the physician to review.
- Obtain and record vital signs of employees/applicants and advise physician of any abnormal results.
- Conduct audiometric and vision testing, prepare results for physician review; plant and read TB tests.
- Perform urine dipstick chemical analysis.
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing in accordance with departmental and federal guidelines.
- Receive and process medication calls and advise employees or applicants regarding medication and adherence the MBTA standards.
- Administer Flu clinic: order all supplies, administer vaccines, and submit reports as required by statute.
- Drive a company or personal vehicle and assist at emergencies or events as needed.
- Provide health related education.
- Notify employees/applicants of abnormal results and advise them of MBTA medical standards.
- Prepare medical referrals to obtain further evaluation and past medical records.
- Maintain the Medical Examination information for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) database in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with area supervisors to schedule appointments for employees.
- Conduct chart reviews including a review of all medical documentation submitted to the OHS medical clinic.
- Collaborate with the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and the Workers' Compensation Department according to appropriate need.
- Provide education for Medical Assistants, including new hires to the department.
- Provide supervision for Medical Assistants in collaboration with clinical management.
- Provide wellness instruction to employees/applicants as dictated by situation.
- Perform other related duties and assignments.
- Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and employees.
- Available to work all shifts and locations as assigned or directed.
- Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned

- Available to work as per assignment by the MBTA twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week as directed by supervisory staff for severe weather conditions, emergencies or any other circumstances that may potentially impact service or the safety of service

- Associate's degree from an accredited institution in nursing or public/community health.
- Three (3) years of nursing experience.
- License to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Updated and current pharmacological knowledge.
- Demonstrated experience in the operation of medical equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of EMR systems.
- A valid driver's license.
Preferences Include: - Possession of a certification in CPR.
- Experience in employment related nursing, such as completing Department of Utility (DPU) physicals.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in nursing or public/community health.
