Elementary Summer Learning Academy: NURSE

GENERAL STATEMENT

S.L.A. is a three-week in-person learning program which consists of hands-on experiences in the Science of Reading, Math Strategies, and Social-Emotional Learning for students currently in grades K through 3. The three-week session will be held from 8:30 (arrival) to -11:45 (dismissal) at Second Hill Lane.

3-Weeks: Monday, July 8th - Thursday, July 25th

The nurse will work 8:30-12:30 (4 hours) during the three weeks and is expected to meet for one 4.5-hour day prior to the program starting in order to receive program overview/expectations, professional development, plan, organize, and prepare materials. Total working days = 13 days (12 student contact days plus 1 operational/planning day).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend each session in a timely, responsible, and cooperative manner

• Supervise the health of students and related tasks

• Administer medication

• Deliver treatments

• Complete other tasks as needed

• Attend one planning/preparation day prior to the start of summer school (4 hour day)

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Connecticut license as a Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse

• School nurse and/or pediatric nurse experience is preferred

SALARY

Hourly rate as determined by the union contract.
