      Job Description

      Individuals in this job classification are under the supervision of the registered nurse and are responsible for the collection of assessment data, contributing to the nursing process and documenting care activities in accordance with OSUMC standards to deliver safe, efficient, effective, quality patient care. The Nurse Extern must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. This individual must utilize principles of growth and development over the life span; demonstrate the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. The Nurse Extern will participate in the plan for the provision of patient care as described in the Patient Care policies and procedures, and is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act. This is a temporary PRN position for nursing students who have completed their sophomore year or 2nd level of Associates degree program.

      Requirements

      High School Diploma or GED required
      BLS required
      Must be currently enrolled in an accredited RN Nursing Program
      Nursing program skills checklist required
      Senior Students preferred
      OR
      Last Semester of Junior Year Student
