- Plans, directs, coordinates, coaches and evaluates the operational, fiscal and personnel activities within department to ensure the provision of quality patient care 24 hours a day
- Contributes to the strategic planning process and attainment of goals
- Continually advocates for available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe and compassionate nursing care based on current standards of practice
- Assumes the role of patient advocate when necessary to assist in clarifying and evaluating ethical issues and supports cultural practices
- Supervises and fosters a healing environment for our staff and patients
- Promotes shared decision making on the unit level and hospital Professional Nursing Council
- Acts as a resource and facilitates collaboration between nursing personnel and other health care disciplines throughout the organization and within the healthcare community
- Accountable for promoting ongoing development of all staff and for maintaining a professional environment in which all staff can grow and develop
- Promotes the ongoing leadership development of front line leadership
- Leads and directs the work of others
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
- Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program
- Licensed as a RN by the Idaho Board of Nursing OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multi-state privilege to practice" compact with Idaho
- BSN required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a charge nurse or other equivalent leadership experience
- Master’s degree in nursing or relevant healthcare field preferred
- Current approved leadership certification required after meeting eligibility requirements
- BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS within 60 days of hire
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Typical equipment used in a clinical job
- Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
- Must be able to lift or move up to 35 lb
