- Create and maintain policies and procedures following current evidence based practice.
- Manage and develop a staff of employees through recruiting, selecting, orienting, coaching and training employees.
- Communicate job expectations and holds individuals accountable for results.
- Establish strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service and operational information. This includes the identification of trends, options, to recommend a course of action and establishing objectives and goals.
- Lead others in the achievement of tasks and procedures that deliver on individual and departmental strategy, goals and tactics.
- May oversee/recommend the spending related to a department budget but sign-off authority generally requires more senior level approval.
- Provide oversight, training and direction to the employees in the operating unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff to ensure departmental compliance.
- Oversee new employee onboarding, providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.
- Provide effective performance feedback through a formal performance review process, employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary.
- Work with department head to recommend appropriate staffing levels.
- Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, telecommuting, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling.
- Communicate information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, and regular interpersonal communication.
- Assist in budget requirement for unit
- All other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of accredited Nursing school BSN.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years as Registered Nurse required,
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a leadership role required
- Prior experience as an Endoscopy manager or a supervisor/lead is preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of Endoscopy, often serves as the subject matter expert.
- Ability to establish goals, set priorities, oversee the day-to-day activities, prepare and deliver performance reviews, operate in a project manager role as needed, coach others, ensure quality of results and output.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
- Ability to be decisive based on prior experience, precedent or interpretation of regulations/policy.
- Critical thinking, math, and computer skills; Works as a team player
- Monitors and facilitates the meeting of requirements of NYSDOH, JCAHO and other regulators
- Knowledge of quality improvement philosophy models, processes and tools and their use in health care integrated settings. Maintains currency with state of the art and regulatory trends
- Knowledge of methods for CQI, and Root Cause Analysis
- Monitors and facilitates the meeting of requirements of NYSDOH, JCAHO and other regulators

- Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
- Licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in New York State required
- Basic Life Support required.
- ACLS required
- Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) or Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR), preferred.
- Physically demanding, high-stress environment requiring prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day
- Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 35 pounds for routine performance of essential functions
- An individual in this position may be exposed to: Adverse indoor environmental conditions, Blood borne pathogens, Blood and body fluids, Physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.), communicable diseases, chemical hazards, radiation, and repetitive motions
- Full range of body motion, able to lift up to 100 pounds, if necessary, to assist lifting and moving patients
- Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand and eye coordination.
- Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
- Frequently sitting at desk working on computer
- Ability to flex working hours
- On call
Overview
The Endoscopy Nurse Manager is a prestigious opportunity and will be responsible over the coordination and direction of the Endoscopy unit and rooms PACU, Endoscopy, Pre-Admission Testing, Central Sterile Department and Perfusion in the delivery of nursing care services related to the perioperative adult, older adult, adolescent and pediatric patients. Reporting to the Director of Perioperative services, collaborative responsibilities include building and maintaining safe policies and patient protocol to ensure efficient operations of Endoscopy services.
