      The Nurse Manager of SCRC (South Central Rehabilitation Center) is responsible for the daily medical/clinical operation of the facility from a nursing standpoint. The Nurse Manager will help supervise and train the nursing (LPN, RN) and technician staff directly. In addition, he/she works closely with the Medical Director and Program Director to assure the medical and nursing components of the facility are appropriately coordinated and meet all regulatory and patient care standards. Practices appropriate medication management and uses sound clinical judgment based on best practice standards. Functions as part of the multi-disciplinary clinical team. Participates in chart review/peer review.

      Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Initiates and implements assessment and treatment planning for patients with substance abuse disorders eligible for inpatient or outpatient detoxification, methadone maintenance/other medication assisted therapies, and primary care.
      • Demonstrates reasonable and prudent medical care, uses sound clinical judgment based on best practice standards and evidenced based medicine.
      • Practices appropriate follow-up care, outreach to special needs patients, retrieval of labs, diagnostic imaging and consultation reports.
      • Educates patients on preventive health care and chronic disease management and/or refers to appropriate resources or agencies.
      • Responsible for assisting in the oversight of the management of the daily medical/clinical operation of the facility while demonstrating ethical and professional conduct. Assist in oversight of compliance of nursing components with regulatory standards (e.g. Joint Commission, DEA).
      • Educates nursing staff regarding appropriate use of standard detox protocols, general acute and chronic medical management and psychiatric management of detox pts including emergencies, pharmacotherapy, and documentation.
      • Collaborates with Assistant Nurse Manager and Program Director to ensure that an RN is always scheduled for each shift, and helps manage all scheduling and call outs for the nursing staff.
      • Documents in a timely and legible manner consistent with State, Federal and accreditation guidelines. Assists in documenting nursing incidents and medication errors. Ensures to use the utmost of care in protecting the confidentiality of client records in accordance with State and Federal laws.
      • Performs all other duties as required.

      Requirements:

      • Graduate from an accredited school. Must have a current Registered Nurse Connecticut State Licensure. CPR certification required.
      • Experience working in a fast paced environment with co-disordered clients facing multiple psychosocial stressors preferred.
      • Supervisory experience preferred.
      • Knowledge and competency regarding assessment of general medical and substance abuse disorders.
      • In addition, basic nursing skills are required.
      • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
      • Ability to generate high levels of client satisfaction.
      • Ability to work with interdisciplinary team. Must demonstrate age specific/population specific competencies in area(s) of practice.
