      The Prepare Program NP evaluates readiness for anesthesia and surgery and ensures the patient completes the necessary tests before a patients operation.

      Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

      For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

      • Excellent cardiac knowledge.
      • Previous pre-op evaluation experience (Prepare clinic experience).
      • Previous UCSF NP experience.
      Our Prepare Program staff evaluate readiness for anesthesia and surgery and ensure the patient complete the necessary tests before a patients operation. We also provide instructions on hospital admission, including where to check in, restrictions on what the patient can eat and drink before surgery, and how to manage their medications.

      Nurse Practitioners on the Prepare team work with physicians,surgeons, APP colleagues, and other clinical and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient management based on accepted practice, including but not limited to, performing histories and physicals, pre-operative planning/coordinating with outside providers and PCPs as applicable. They'll respond to change in patient status, provide needed prescriptions, evaluations, referrals, treatments as permitted under standardized procedure. In addition, they'll order radiographic or diagnostic requests, and specialized treatments. (with the approved privilege). Provide patient and family education,and arrange follow-up appointments.
      • Minimum two (2) years of recent NP experience.
      • Two (2) years in an ambulatory/clinic setting.
      • Recent pulmonary and cardiac experience as an NP.
      • Recent pre-op evaluation experience as an NP.
      • Excellent cardiac knowledge.
      • Previous pre-op evaluation experience (Prepare clinic experience).
      • Previous UCSF NP experience.
