Job Description
- Req#: 27706
- Must have successfully completed an accredited program for a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner with a master’s degree of nursing.
- Licensed to practice in the State of Indiana with 2 years current experience preferred in wound and ostomy/continence care.
- Completion of a WOCN Accredited Professional Education Program and WOCN certification preferred.
- Documentation of prescriptive authority granted by the State of Indiana and a valid controlled substance certification must be on file in the Medical Staff Services Department prior to ordering of medications.
- Must successfully complete credentialing and privileging process before functioning as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Demonstration of completion of an advanced physical assessment class.
- Successful completion of the St. Mary Medical Center Personnel and Nursing Orientation Programs.
- Completes continuing education as required by certification.
- Obtains and maintains current CPR Certification.
- Computer literacy with familiarity of Windows and database management.

Position Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner provides acute and rehabilitative care for patients in the Wound Ostomy Clinic. Offers direct patient care, education, and counseling for persons with abdominal stomas, wounds, fistulas, drains, pressure ulcers, vascular ulcers, and skin problems related to fecal and urinary continence, etc. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population served. Serves as a clinical resource, consultant, researcher, and educator to the medical and nursing staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating care based on specialized area of expertise, physician orders, etc.
