We currently have an opening for a full-time Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our Stroke Program. The position will work 80 hours per pay period (1.0 FTE) during daytime hours only with required weekend coverage every other weekend (Friday-Monday) from 7a-5p. No evenings, nights or on-call required. Shifts normally start at 7 a.m. This position will focus on the inpatient management of patients admitted for acute ischemic stroke and/or cerebrovascular issues as part of our neurology stroke service which is a resident-directed, consult only service overseen by an attending physician. Position responsibilities includes seeing stroke consults, running stroke codes, and working closely with the neurology physicians and primary teams. There is the potential for outpatient responsibilities in HCMC’s stroke clinic as determined by program needs. The majority of visits in the outpatient clinic are stroke follow-up patients, but a desire to expand to seeing new stroke consults in clinic is preferred. Our providers work closely with learners throughout the hospital, including medical students, residents, and fellows from the University of Minnesota and other programs. This position is for someone who is comfortable working independently when needed, as well as in a team when appropriate. Ultimately, the attending physician will oversee all the position’s activities and provide guidance as needed.
