      About the Cardiac SICU RN Role and Department

MGH is seeking RNs to join our Magnet®-designated nursing team in our state-of-the-art multidisciplinary intensive care unit. The Blake 8 Cardiac SICU is an 18 bed Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit provides patient/family centered care based on current evidence to a highly acute population requiring surgical and percutaneous interventions to manage acute coronary syndromes, valvular disease, cardiac transplantation and congenital diseases of the heart and vessels. Advanced technologies used in support of this patient population include: ventricular assist devices, continuous renal replacement therapies, intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. The unit is supported by a leadership team that includes a Nursing Director, a Medical Director/Intensivist as well as a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist.       Requirements for a Cardiac SICU RN
      • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license
      • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience or current ICU experience

      36 hours per week 50/50 split between day and night shifts along with weekend and holiday requirements

      Summary
      Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.

      Essential Functions
      -Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
      -Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
      -Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
      -Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
      -Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
      -Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.


      Qualifications

      Education Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred Experience Clinical nursing experience 0-1 year required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment. - Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided. - Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information. - Knowledge of medical terminology. - Excellent verbal and communication skills. - Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
