Nursing associates work withhealthcare support workers and registered nurses and other members of the clinical team to deliver care for patients.
You will undertake procedures as stated in the NMC standards of proficiency for Nursing Associates to include but not limited to:
- Smears
- Child immunisations
- venepuncture, BP management, urinalysis, peak flow, health checks, stitch/clip removal, ear syringing, ECG, and wound management. performing and recording clinical observations such as blood pressure, temperature, respirations and pulse.
- ensuring the privacy, dignity and safety of individuals is maintained at all times
- recognising issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults

- Undertake procedures as stated in the NMC standards of proficiency for Nursing Associates, to include but not limited to; venepuncture, BP management, urinalysis, peak flow, health checks, stitch/clip removal, ear syringing and wound management.
- Administer adult and child immunisations and vaccinations in accordance with national and local programmes under patient specific directives.
- Participate and support in the management of long-term conditions; undertake disease management clinics and provide nursing care for the patients.
- Support and participate in programmes of care for women's health under agreed local/national guidelines, protocols and patient specific directions, including cytology screening.
- Ensure safe storage, rotation and disposal of vaccines and drugs.
- Deliver care to National Service Frameworks, NICE guidelines, CQC Model Framework, NHS/ICB policy and evidence-based care.
- Support and work towards the achievement of national standards (e.g. Quality and Outcomes Framework), local NHS/ICB standards and Practice standards.
- Refer to other members of the extended primary health care team eg chiropodist, dietician, specialist nurses.
- Monitor and use resources appropriately within the team; vaccines and clinical stock and maintain adequate stock levels
- Work within the latest NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

- NMC registration.
- Previous experience of working within a health/care setting.
- Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
- Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for
- practice contained within The Code.
- Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.

Job summary
Elm Tree surgery is looking to recruit a highly motivated, flexible and enthusiastic Nursing Associate who is passionate about patient care to join our team and enhance the proactive care that we offer to our patients
You will deliver care within the boundaries of your role focusing on supporting patients to be healthy, the monitoring of long-term conditions, health prevention/promotion and screening. You will work to meet the needs of patients whilst ensuring high standards of care and supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.
You will work as an active member of the multidisciplinary Practice Team supported by our Nursing Team to deliver care within the boundaries of your role. You will have a nurse assigned to act as your mentor to help build your confidence in your role within the surgery. Surrounded by a network of reception staff, admin, HCAs, nurses and doctors, you will have support throughout your working day! At Elm tree we pride ourselves on our team work and the partners are very involved in making sure that all staff feel supported in order to provide the best care for the patients. Furthermore, we have very high patient safisfaction feedback due to the high quality care we provide.
At all times you will work within the scope of practice and the NMC Code of Conduct and apply agreed practice standards and protocols.

Elm Tree Surgery is a rapidly expanding five-Partner practice in purposely refurbished premises in Thornaby with a patient list size of 12000. We are a forward-looking and innovative teaching practice, providing more than just General Medical Services. We are a high achieving QOF practice and have a Good CQC rating.
We believe in investing in people and have seen many members of staff go through various training courses to enhance their learning and the service offered to our patients.
We have a clinical team of 5 GP Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 1 paramedic and a team of Practice Nurses, a HCA, and a Phlebotomist. The clinical team are supported by admin and reception
