- Patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding
- Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering tests
- Setting up and maintaining patient rooms
- Ordering and stocking of supplies
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
- Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position.
- Previous experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, Nursing Assistant, or other related experience
Job OverviewThis position is a .6 FTE (48 hours per 2 week pay period). This position works 8 hour shifts, every third weekend rotation, on the day/evening shift.
Fairview is hiring a Nursing Station Technician for the Cardiac/Respiratory Intermediate Care Unit at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.
About This Position:
The Cardiac/Respiratory IMC is a dynamic and fast-paced, 22 bed unit. As a Nursing Station Technician, you will join our interdisciplinary team in delivering care to patients 18 years and older with moderate to severe physiologic instability and a wide range of diagnoses.
The Nursing Station Technician is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties.
In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Other job duties include:
