- Determines nutrition program eligibility from income, medical information, residence and dietary evaluation
- Determines when new medical information is needed; records and notifies nutrition program participants
- Performs nutritional assessment and education for new and continuing nutrition program participants
- Conducts group and individual education to nutrition program participants.
Bilingual Candidates: Translates, interprets and otherwise communicates with members of the Spanish speaking community.
- Equivalent to completion of high school (12th grade).
- Requires a valid California driver’s license.

About the Position :
Under general supervision provides nutrition education and, based on assignment, may assist in determining Women, Infants and Children (WIC) client eligibility. Performs general office duties, collects and records medical information.To view the complete classification specification, please click here.Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. License and Special Requirements:Bilingual Candidates:
• Must pass a Merit Systems Services written and/or oral bilingual proficiency test (or other appropriate test selected by the County) to qualify.
The department is recruiting for one (1) vacancy.
In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill current vacancies for a Nutrition Assistant I Bilingual, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
Testing Dates:August 7, 2024 - August 9, 2024. Testing will be provided via email.Tentative Interview Date:1st : Monday, August 12, 2024 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.2nd : Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 10:30am - 12:00pm.*Only the most qualified applicants will be invited to interview.Bilingual incentive pay is 7.5% above the Nutrition Assistant I salary.New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range.
