!*!GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Crime Victim Services Division of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a Reimbursement Officer that performs claims processing work in the Landowners Compensation Program and in the Eligibility Section. Work involves complex in-depth investigation of offense reports and other related materials to determine legal authority for qualification under the programs. Reviews Landowners Compensation applications for completeness, verifies supporting documentation, processes applications for eligibility decisions and prepares recommendations for payments. Work also involves weighing and judging credibility of involved parties’ statements. Subject matter expert assisting the public, advocacy groups, prosecutors, law enforcement and constituents concerning interpretation of the statute, rules, procedures, and polices that govern the program.This position may be eligible for telework up to three days per week once trained. Employees must have a secure, dedicated workspace with Internet service, ability to maintain a reliable consistent work schedule, and be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular business hours.
Flexible work arrangements, to include flexible work schedules and/or telework, may be considered relative to business need after training.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Oversees and coordinates advanced or complex analysis of assigned claims to determine legal authority for qualification under the Landowner Compensation (LC) Program, or the Crime Victims’ Compensation (CVC) program, as applicable.
Independently identify and interview appropriate law enforcement officers, prosecutors, or other interested parties for LC and CVC claims.
Conducts investigations for LC and CVC programs that are often complex in nature.
Independently identify, gather, and evaluate records of individuals who apply for benefits.
Maintain substantial knowledge of, interprets, and explains the Landowner Compensation and Crime Victims’ Compensation statutes, administrative rules, and policies.
Independently prepares comprehensive and detailed reports to document facts of the incident and recommend denial or approval of claim.
Gathers required documentation for recommendations for payments to claimants of the Landowner Compensation Program.
May train new staff in both eligibility determination and other training responsibilities as assigned.
Performs related work as assigned.
Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions.
Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule.
Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information.
Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: claims processing, criminal justice, customer experience, social services; or interacting with persons in emotional stress or crisis
Knowledge of Landowner Compensation and Crime Victims’ Compensation Programs
Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
Skill in effective oral and written communication
Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG workspace within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)
Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in a criminal justice, crime victims or social service agency
Knowledge of the issues of victimization and the victim service delivery system in Texas
Other Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak SpanishTO APPLY
