      Job summary

      We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic dietitian with good team working skills to join our multidisciplinary specialist weight assessment and management team. This is a permanent post for 0.6WTE (22.5hours a week) Band 7 dietitian.

      This post involves working in our specialist weight management services based in Bristol, UK. You will have the opportunity to work in both our surgical and non-surgical obesity management teams, which providea pathway of multi-disciplinary care. You will work closely with psychologists, endocrinologists, surgeons, pharmacists and specialist nurses/ practitioners. Previous clinical experience and a passion for supporting people living with obesity is essential. This role is predominantly based at our Brunel Building in Southmead Hospital, but may require wider travel across the South West and beyond. The role is likely to require a combination of in person and remote working.

      Main duties of the job

      Registration with the Health Professions Council as a Registered Dietitian. This will be either: 4 year degree course in Nutrition and Dietetics OR 3 year degree in related biological subject + 2 year post-graduate course in dietetics (MSc)

      Ideally worked at Band 6 or 7 level with experience working in obesity care

      Experience in using word processing, spreadsheet, database and powerpoint programmes & specialist dietetic computer applications.

      Training and experience in delivering teaching sessions and presentations to health professionals and patient groups.

      Clinical supervisory skills course, Post-graduate training in behaviour change skills

      Familiarity with principles of clinical governance and national guidelines for best practice

      Ability to act as an independent practitioner and be professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work

      Ability to communicate successfully, both verbally and in writing, with a wide spectrum of health professionals and patients, to establish and maintain successful working relationships

      Advanced level ability to use counselling skills, motivational approaches and cognitive behaviour therapy strategies

      Ability to take the lead on introducing new ways of workingeg introducing services to manage obesity in both Tier 3 and Tier 4 weight management services.
