      About you and this role:

      Dow Canada is seeking a full time Occupational Health Nurse to provide on-site nursing practices to our manufacturing facility in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

      The Occupational Health Nurse will support and contribute to the health of workers in all occupations through health promotion, health protection, and treatment of injury/illnesses.

      This role will also help support efforts for the Path2Zero program, which will create the first net-zero emissions site of its kind in the world. The FS P2Z program is a key enabler to Dow’s Decarbonization strategy. Learn More: Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero (dow.com) .

      Responsibilities:

      • Provides Occupational Health practices in accordance with company standards and all applicable regulations including WCB and OH&S in Alberta.
      • Provides emergency care/technical support to site emergency response planning including, but not limited to, hands-on medical emergency response, crisis management.
      • Implements site programs, procedures and initiatives for prevention, recognition, and treatment of illness and/or injury.
      • Facilitates disability case management by coordinating health care and early intervention to promote the safe and timely return to work of ill or injured workers.
      • Assists the health and safety team with identifying health and safety hazards in the work setting and suggest controls.
      • Always acts in a professional and confidential manner when dealing with sensitive employee and company information.
      • Provides clinical care services, case management, health assessment program management/services, and general preventive health services.
      • Serves as part of onsite Occupational Health Services, supporting Dow employees, specified contractor employees, visitors, and service customers at a particular site.
      • Provides nursing assessment and interventions by obtaining a complete history, providing physical assessment noting deviations from the norm, ordering medical testing, and making an assessment.
      • Completes medical surveillance testing for employees and specific contract partners (inclusive of biometrics, audiometry, pulmonary function testing, vision testing, phlebotomy for blood lab testing)
      • Reviews the results of history, physical examination, functional and laboratory testing, and determines the need for follow-up or workplace restrictions/limitations.
      • Delivers and coordinates health promotion and disease prevention interventions which might include individual employee counseling, health education, and/or training programs.

      • Must be able to balance multiple priorities.

      Preferred Skills:

      • Advanced First Aide (AFA) certification
      • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
      • ITLS (international trauma life support)
      • Phlebotomy/Blood draw skills

      Required Qualifications:

      • A Bachelor of science in Nursing degree is required.
      • A minimum of 5 years related practical experience.
      • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (OHN).
      • Must have current CPR/AED certification.
      • Certifications in audiometric testing and spirometry testing.
      • Active registration with the College & Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
