      Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice

      Church Road, Leckhampton

      15 hours/week (some flexibility available to be over either 2 or 3 days)

      £37,523 - £42,510 per annum, pro rata

      Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can access the support they need. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone.

      Main duties of the job

      About the role

      The hospice has undergone a period of service development and we are now looking for an Occupational Therapist to meet the needs of our patients.

      This exciting role will involve providing care to patients predominantly in the hospice inpatient unit, but also occasionally within their homes and in the hospice Community Hub building.

      Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in Cheltenham is Gloucestershires only inpatient unit for specialist palliative care.

      We support people aged 18 and over who are living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, heart failure and lung disease by combining specialist medical care for managing pain and other symptoms with other emotional, practical and spiritual support.

      We are able to provide care on our inpatient unit, virtually and in person though our Community Hub and in peoples homes through our Hospice at Home and community therapies service.

      This exciting role will suit an experienced practitioner with a broad knowledge base and experience of working in a wide variety of clinical fields, who wishes to specialise in the field of palliative medicine.

      The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge of palliative care interventions, high levels of technical competence, strong communication and inter-personal skills and the ability to work well within a close multi-disciplinary team.

      • We are looking for an experienced qualified Occupational Therapist who is passionate about helping people to improve their quality of life, and to be as independent and as comfortable as they can be.
      • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate competent clinical ability, strong communication and inter-personal skills and be able to work well within a close multi-disciplinary team.
      • Experience in palliative care is highly desirable but pay scale can reflect experience with the option of this being a developmental post if necessary.
      • Diploma / BSC (Hons) in Occupational Therapy
      • Current and valid Registration with Health & Care Professions Council
      • Knowledge and application of OT assessments and interventions using clinical reasoning
      • An ability to work autonomously and to set own and support others priorities
      • An ability to confidently assess and manage risk in relation to occupational performance
      • An ability to organise, co-ordinate and respond efficiently to complex information
