      Job summary

      We are currently recruiting for an Occupational Therapist to join our team of Clinical professionals within a forensic independent Hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified or newly qualified Occupational Therapist to enhance their skills across Mental Illness, Personality Disorder and Autism pathways. Working alongside an established team you will receive the support, supervision and guidance needed to further your career.

      Main duties of the job

      You will be either a qualified or soon to qualify Occupational Therapist wanting to take the next step on your career path and have a real passion for developing your skills in an ever changing environment.       Responsibilities and Duties

      • Act as a Named Occupational therapist for identified patient(s) - ensuring all aspects of Care Planning are implemented and reviewed according to relevant protocols.

      • Ensure all reports and risk assessments are concise accurate and clearly documented in line with the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct (College of Occupational Therapists 2010) relevant, clearly identified and risk management plans are clear and consistent.

      • Ensure that you make professional contributions to MDT decisions.

      • Ensure that you complete and contribute to formal risk assessment documentation.

      • Ensure that all standards of ward procedure are implemented to the highest standard

      • Attend and take part in Ward Rounds, CPA’s and other meetings as required.

      • Ensure correct procedures take place for the Admission and Discharge of Patients.

      • To deliver formal psychological interventions following appropriate training.

      Position: Occupational Therapist

      Hours: 37.5 hours per week

      Reports to: Director of Clinical Services/Team Leader/ Senior Occupational Therapists

      Responsible for: Senior Occupational Therapy Assistants, Technical Instructors, Occupational Therapy Assistants and students.

      Summary of Purpose

      To act as the named Occupational Therapist for identified patients, and work as an integral member of the MDT in delivering high quality Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions.

      To support the MDT and Occupational Therapy team in all aspects ensuring high standards of care delivery and compliance.

      To assist in motivating and supporting the Occupational therapy staff to achieve high quality care through innovative and evidence based practice.

      To ensure that you uphold the reputation and professionalism of the team and the hospital.

      Main Duties/Responsibilities

      · Ensure all mandatory training is undertaken, and take an active approach in engaging in internal and external opportunities to enhance and keep their continuing professional development (CPD) up to date.

      · To provide supervision to junior staff.

      · To communicate accurate and sensitive information to patients, staff, carers and external individuals using an appropriate and accessible medium, taking into consideration relevant factors such as background, culture, gender, age and any physical, sensory or learning difficulties, adopting an empathic approach at all times.

      The role can be physically demanding and there is a requirement for all ward-based staff to be able to undertake physical intervention training; and to be able to utilise these skills post training.

      · Assist in ensure all relevant KPI’s/ CQUIN targets and Outcome measures are met.

      · Be self aware and seek guidance where appropriate.

      · Act as an ambassador for CPH.

      · Act as a professional role model at all times.

      · Maintain a professional portfolio and assist junior staff in maintenance of such documentation.

      · Participate in Clinical/Managerial supervision taking responsibility for staff where appropriate.

      Health and Safety

      · Ensure that you remain aware of, and attend Health and Safety updates and training.

      · Assist in unit audits such as environmental, ligature, cleanliness and infection control are regularly reviewed and any actions carried out in a timely manner.

      · Assists in the maintenance of physical security and safety through regular monitoring and checks.

      · It is the post holders responsibility to take reasonable care for the Health, Safety and Welfare of him/herself and other employees in accordance with legislation and specific Policies and Procedures.
