Job Description

- Fixed term, full-time opportunity 1.0FTE (40 hours per week)

- Working with infants and tamariki with developmental delay and complex needs, in outpatients or in a range of community settings to best meet the needs of the child/whānau (e.g. home, preschool etc)
- Facilitating evidence based/best practice occupational therapy for children and their whānau including assessment (standardised/non standardised) and family centred intervention/ goal planning.
- Working actively and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary clinical team, liaising appropriately with relevant health care professionals and others involved with the child/whānau, including external agencies.
- Prescribing adaptive equipment or recommending environmental adaptations within the parameters of relevant funding sources for children.
- Be registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand in accordance with the HPCA Act 2004 and possess a current annual practising certificate
- Be prepared to work towards accreditation as an Assessor for the Equipment Management Service
- Actively participate in the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand’s re-certification programme and Southern’s Credentialing Review process
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and build relationships with a diverse range of people.
- Be a great team player, with the confidence to work effectively within an inter-disciplinary team
- Hold a current, clean, and full New Zealand Driver’s Licence
- Occupational Health Assessment
- Police Vetting / Ministry of Justice safety checks
- Serious misconduct checks (previous Public Service departments and statutory Crown entities only)

This is a role for someone with energy and enthusiasm for Occupational Therapy with a sound knowledge and skills, who will be a team player with excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills who can manage their caseload, and is driven and proactive in their ongoing development of their knowledge and expertise.
To be successful in this position, you will also need to demonstrate the following:
Previous experience working with tamariki and families is preferred but not essential.

Utu whānui |Salary range
This role belongs to the PSA/DHBs Allied, Public Health and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($70,842 p.a) and Step 7 ($100,466 p.a pro rata) of the Degree-Based Allied, Public Health and Technical scale.
