  Summary of Job Duties:

  The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (Inpatient) provides daily treatments to promote functional independence while monitoring the physiological status of the patient and adjusting interventions within the plan of care based on patient response. The COTA coordinates/communicates with the OT and the medical team. The COTA completes appropriate documentation per standards.

  
  Qualifications:

  Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy

  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant by the Arkansas State Medical Board or eligible for licensure.

  
  Additional Information:

  Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).

  Responsibilities:

  • Provides evidence-based, quality patient treatment and education established by the Occupational Therapist, and monitors patients for physiological status during sessions.

  • Consults with the Occupational Therapist on status changes for patients, revisions of goals, and/or recommendations for change in treatment plan.

  • Completes accurate and thorough documentation promptly following regulatory policies.

  • Submits accurate and complete charges and daily summary sheets.

  • Efficiently manages time/treatments, ensuring that the departmental productivity target is consistently met.

  • Responsive to needs/requests outside of direct patient care.

  • May include serving as a Clinical Instructor, providing presentations, serving on committees/teams, performing program development/projects, developing educational materials, providing education to coworkers after attending continuing education that was supported by travel or educational leave, etc.

  • Adheres to UAMS/Department policy for attendance; reports for all scheduled shifts on time and completes shift duties.
