      Department Overview:

The Rigby is more than just a bar and event venue — it’s a creative hub for downtown Madison nightlife, private events, themed parties, and unforgettable experiences. Our marketing department plays a key role in shaping how the public experiences The Rigby, both online and in person.

As a marketing intern, you'll be part of a small, passionate team that thrives on creativity, collaboration, and hustle. We don’t just “post to social” — we build buzz, craft community, and turn events into experiences people talk about all week. Whether it’s promoting a rooftop drag show, designing a campaign for our signature Rogue Infusions, or growing engagement on TikTok, this internship gives you hands-on experience with real responsibility.

We’re looking for students who want to learn by doing — not just observing. You’ll be given space to bring ideas to life, experiment, and develop your marketing instincts in a fast-paced environment with room to grow. This is a chance to build your portfolio, expand your network, and have a direct impact on one of Madison’s most beloved venues.

Familiarity with branding concepts, target audience strategies, and what drives online engagement is important. While not required, knowledge of the hospitality, nightlife, or events industry is a plus.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a creative mindset and the ability to generate ideas that align with The Rigby’s personality and brand. Interns should be comfortable using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to create promotional content. Time management and organization are key, as the internship involves meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects at once. The ideal intern will be proactive, capable of working independently, and comfortable collaborating with a small, fast-moving team. They should be adaptable, detail-oriented, and open to attending events occasionally to capture on-site content.
