Job Description

- Answer telephones, direct calls, receive and deliver messages on time.
- Maintain and update filing, inventory, mailing, and database systems, either manually or using a computer.
- Open, sort, and route incoming mail, answer correspondence, and prepare outgoing mail.
- Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other activities.
- Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests.
- Coordinate assigned tasks with Histology Manager, Office Coordinator and Pathologists to meet department goals.
- Maintain filing of consultation reports to ensure timely retrieval.
- Process slide/block shipments to ensure timely distribution and documentation with an expected completion of 48 hours post arrival.
- On alternate weeks this position prints interim reports and collates requisitions.
- Assist with printing of interim reports and collation with requisitions when needed.
- Prepare slides/blocks for send outs for ancillary testing.
- Prepare Laboratory send outs and end of day tote for Grassmere in coordination with Office Coordinator.
- Provide coverage for Office Assistant at MRH.
- Accession cases as required and directed by Histology Manager.
- Monitor send out log daily to ensure timely entry of cases. Alert Histology Managers of any cases that exceed established time expectation.
- Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
- Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
- Work with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.

The Office Assistant assists the Pathologists and PathGroup employees in a variety of ways to ensure efficient and productive office operations.
