Job Description
- Req#: 41845
- Files all legal documents in appropriate case jackets, including medical information, correspondence, motions, petitions, attorney agreements; maintains case files; files case jackets numerically; and prepares files for shipment to off-site storage facilities by packing files numerically in storage boxes, placing boxes on skids and pulling skids to dock area.
- Retrieves case jackets and verifies settlement contract and dismissal names and case numbers against case jackets before forwarding to Data Entry.
- Retrieves case jackets and matches with motions filed for presentation to Arbitrators for 13 motions calls per month.
- Performs computer check to verify case information and case status.
- Assists in moving furniture.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Under direct supervision, performs various clerical duties within the Central Files Unit.

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.

The Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission resolves disputes between employees and employers regarding work-related injuries and illnesses. A case is first tried by an arbitrator, whose decision may be reviewed by a panel of three commissioners. Cases may then be appealed to the circuit court, Appellate Court, and Illinois Supreme Court. Like most court systems, the vast majority of disputes are resolved by settlement.
