      WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday: 9am-1pm or 12pm-4pm, 20 hours/week

      JOB SUMMARY: Responsibilities include screening, insurance verification, scheduling, and registration of cardiac rehabilitation patients. Administrative tasks.

      WORK PERFORMED:

      1. Reviews the referrals for completeness of information necessary to process referral as per policy and procedure set by Management.

      2. Contacts physician offices to obtain additional information on patients, if necessary.

      3. Responsible for contacting patients to obtain demographic and insurance information.

      4. Responsible for verifying insurance coverage via eligibility computer system to determine available benefits.

      5. Responsible for contacting via telephone insurance carriers or electronic eligibility to obtain necessary insurance benefits information.

      6. Responsible for pre-authorization/pre-admission requirements of insurance carriers prior to the start of care.

      7. Responsible for notifying patients if their carrier has not pre-authorized cardiac rehabilitation services and advising patients of Burke’s payment policies.

      8. Responsible for scheduling and rescheduling appointments and maintaining an accurate daily schedule of cardiac rehabilitation patients.

      9. Responsible for scanning medical and insurance related information into Epic.

      10. Assist with the collection of copays.

      11. Responsible for and acts as a liaison between Cardiac Rehabilitation, Patient Financial Services and any other ancillary departments.

      12. Demonstrates the ability to communicate with pediatric, adolescent, young adult and geriatric patients and visitors.

      13. Manages patient inquiries and messages in a timely manner.

      14. Practices Standard Precautions. Follows regulations, policies and guidelines on the prevention of infections; does not eat or drink in patient care areas.

      15. Maintains confidentiality of information; abides by HIPAA regulations.

      16. Maintains a professional image and follows Hospital’s policy on uniforms; consistently wears hospital ID.

      17. Demonstrates reliable, on-time attendance, which is an essential function of all jobs at Burke.

      18. Completes mandatory annual learning (Learning Harbor) within deadline.

      19. Personally adheres to Burke C.A.R.E.S. philosophy by demonstrating compassion, accountability, respect and exceeding expectations through service excellence.

      20. Performs other job related duties as assigned.


      Education and Experience Required:

      • High school diploma preferred.
      • Previous clerical experience in a clinical or healthcare business environment strongly preferred.
      • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
      • Knowledge of medical terminology is helpful; experience with EPIC is preferred.
      • Must be comfortable with high-volume telephone interaction involving physicians, clinical staff, and patients.
      • Strong phone presence, with the ability to communicate professionally, with diplomacy and tact at all times.
      • Proficiency with computers required; familiarity with medical terminology is a plus.
