      Job Description

      The position is accountable for:


      • Providing outstanding creative design solutions to complex communications challenges targeted toward internal and external audiences through concept, design and production.


      • Producing philatelic products, publications, advertising collateral and other digital, multimedia and/or printed materials.


      • Producing corporate communications and employee communications creative


      • Ensures that any work delegated is kept under budget and within time constraints.


      Job Responsibilities

      Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Officer, Graphic Design.

      • Contributes to the development of philatelic material and corporate communication design, procedures and standards for a variety of multimedia, motion graphics and print based vehicles.

      • Produces/art directs advertising collateral and publications philatelic material, as well as promotional marketing materials. This includes concept, design, layout and production.

      • Meets with internal and external clients to ascertain their visual communication requirements. Proposes creative solutions and art directs or completes production of items through to completion.

      • Produces and/or assists in the production of motion graphics, posters, philatelic pamphlets and brochures, internal and external campaigns as well as design solutions for internet, intranet and other multimedia applications.

      • Repurposes philatelic design-related material and content. This will involve converting content and imagery from one application to another for use by a wide audience of internal and external users.


      • Fields inquiries and requests from internal and external clients pertaining to approved design concepts and production criteria.

      • Analyzes all the data pertaining to design problems and proposes effective solutions to solve them through the designs in order to convey the proper message(s) to a specific group(s).


      Job Responsibilities (continued)

      • Produces high quality design mock-ups. Uses these mockups to give presentations to clients of creative solutions.

      • Art directs and obtains the necessary components for the completion of a project from outside suppliers (photography, Printers, illustrators, etc.), answers queries from specialists who follow-up on the production of digital or printed projects, and works from written or verbal briefings.

      • Arranges use of time in order to meet deadlines for assignments and production/issue dates. Is responsible on a day to day basis to insure that budgets, timelines and design briefs are respected.

      • Ensures high quality to the execution of all work, maintains high level of customer service and actively contributes to the employee satisfaction of colleagues in the workplace.

      • Technical duties include an excellent knowledge of:


      o Professional working knowledge of the Macintosh OS


      o Adobe CC including but not limited to: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects


      o Microsoft Office (Word and PowerPoint)


      o Corporate Identity and brand management fields


      o Cross-platform and cross-application conversion


      o Database, word processing, and use of internet tools.

      • Keeps abreast of developments in Graphic Design, Advertising, social media and digital platforms etc. and makes suggestions for workplace, training, workflows, and other methodology improvements that will improve workgroup practices.


      Qualifications

      Education


      • Degree or Diploma in Graphic Arts, Computer Graphics, Digital Media OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training

      Experience


      • Minimum 3 years of experience in Digital Media, Motion Graphics, Print, and/or Web Design


      • Experience with Adobe CC including but not limited to: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects


      • Experience with Corporate Identity and brand management; cross-platform and cross-application conversion; word processing, and use of internet tools.

      Other Candidate Requirements


      • Strong communication, analytical, and customer service skills


      • Experience with motion graphics and After Effects is considered an asset


      • Project management skills are considered an asset


      • Working knowledge of the Windows platform is considered an asset
