      About this role

      The Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN):

      • reports to the Senior Manager of Nurse Navigation, Oncology.
      • is a professional RN who provides personalized support, guidance, advocacy, and education to Members and their caregivers affected by cancer.
      • possesses oncology-specific clinical knowledge required to guide Members, families, and caregivers to assist overcoming healthcare system barriers.
      • using the nursing process, provides education and resources to facilitate and support informed decision-making and timely access to quality health.
      • serves as the subject-matter expert for Members, families, caregivers, internal and external colleagues

      What you’ll do:

      • Meet with Member/caregiver at defined cancer journey touchpoints to review treatment goals, expectations, and concerns.
      • Create trusting relationships and address Members/caregivers communication preferences and health literacy needs at all phases of the cancer journey.
      • Guide, support, collaborate, and advocate for Members/caregivers throughout the cancer care journey. Identify potential and realized barriers to care and identify resources to mitigate.
      • Oversee, direct, and provide evidence-based nursing care that is holistic, culturally competent, ethical, linguistically humble, inclusive, and rooted in diversity.
      • Effectively communicate to Members, caregivers, and colleagues clearly, respectfully, compassionately, and timely.
      • Coordinate patient centered care throughout the cancer journey continuum, both within and across systems.
      • Serve as the key point-of-contact to promote optimal clinical outcomes.
      • Identify specific cancer care needs of Members/caregivers and delegate appropriately to support staff.
      • Provide appropriate and timely evidenced-based education and support to the Member/caregivers to facilitate informed decision making.
      • Document Member/caregiver care path in assigned clinical tooling
      • Participate in tracking and monitoring of Member/caregiver outcomes, and other associated quality improvement projects.
      • Assume personal responsibility to maintain required oncology certification, credentialing, and RN licensure.
      • Participate in strategies to increase Member engagement, including proactive outreach.

      What we’re looking for

      • Experienced ONN should have a minimum of 5 years of oncology experience (required) and a minimum of 3 years of oncology navigation or coordinator experience ( preferred) .
      • Work in alignment with the ONS-Oncology Nurse Navigator Competencies.
      • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) is required .
      • Graduated from an accredited nursing school within the United States is required.
      • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or other ONCC certification required or scheduled to test within the next 90 days is required. Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) Foundation for Learning, Inc. (AONN+ FFL) certification is accepted in place of ONCC. ONS Biotherapy not considered in place of ONCC certification.
      • Current RN Compact License is required on date of hire. ONN must attain licensure in states that are not covered in the Compact within 6 months of hire.
      • Obtain American Cancer Society Leadership in Oncology Navigation (LION) within 3 months of hire.
      • Overall computer literacy with proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office.
      • Excellent communication skills; Highly collaborative and flexible
      • Demonstrates ongoing professional development by continual learning activities and CEUs.
      As a remote position, the salary range for this role is:
      $80,000 $100,000 USD
