As the Operating Engineer (Crane Operator) for the Transportation Engineering Services, we perform functions that include operational and functional checks of the crane equipment. We also provide direct support to all Disneyland® Resort departments that operate cranes and motorized equipment.

      Responsibilities

      • Weigh materials to determine load weight and ensure compliance with lifting specifications
      • Conduct inspection of crane mechanism and lifting components to ensure parts are in working order
      • Clean, lubricate, and maintain the moving parts of a crane such as the cables, pulley, or grappling mechanism
      • Inspect cables and grappling assembly to identify wear and facilitate replacement
      • Move, lift, and position equipment, machinery, or heavy materials with the aid of hook, bucket, or electromagnet
      • Identify, select, and attach rigging with basic knowledge of hitch configurations, capacities, and basic knots
      • Use various types of rigging equipment and basic hitches and their applications
      • Estimate weight and center of gravity when calculations are required
      • Identify lift points
      • Determine and select rigging based on loading
      • Perform pre-use inspection of rigging and lift points
      • Identify, select, and attach rigging with knowledge of hitch configurations and load angle factors, rigging capacities, and load integrity
      • Signal and direct truck drivers to properly back vehicles into loading or unloading bay

      Preferred Qualifications

      Technical Abilities

      • Education and Training: Must have a high school diploma and at least 1,000 hours of operating cranes with capacity ranging from 15 tons to 160 tons and licensed by NCCCO Good knowledge of standard crane operation techniques and hand signals are also required
      • Decision-making Skills: Crane operators are expected to use sound judgement and able to determine the appropriate sequence for an operation
      • Physical Dexterity: Crane operator is able to simultaneously control an array of levers and pedals to lift, move, and reposition materials as required
      • Stamina: Operator is able to withstand equipment vibration and long hours of sitting in the cab of a crane as well as standing when conducting rigging operations
      • Communication Skills and Abilities
      • Strong verbal skills required (able to converse with all levels of personnel)
      • Strong written skills

      Compensation Details

      The pay rate for this role in California is $38.48 per hour.

      Fully available to work Sunday through Saturday, all shifts (ie, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift), including holidays when needed
