      Location: Sparwood, B.C.

      Duration: 8 Months

      Positions Available: 1

      Desired Background: For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Computer Science or Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Software) or related disciplines and programs. The individual in this role will be responsible for monitoring computer/server/network health, computer/server administration, on-site support work and much more! We are looking for an individual with strong analytical and interpersonal skills, willing to roll up their sleeves and work in an industrial environment.       Minimum Qualifications: Must currently be enrolled in a recognized and accredited Canadian post-secondary institution throughout the duration of the co-op term. You must also be returning to a post-secondary institution after the co-op term is completed. Depending on the needs and location of the team, you will need to work PST or MDT or relocate to a specific office (Vancouver or site-based)

      Responsibilities

      • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
      • Support industrial process control systems across the organization critical to plant operations, water treatment and environmental compliance and require high uptime/reliability
      • Proactively monitor assigned systems and provide technical support services for critical issues
      • Simple scripting (SQL, Powershell, batch, etc), applying OS & Application patches, application troubleshooting and maintenance, and working with end users to diagnose issues
      • Administer Windows and Unix based physical and virtualized servers and workstations including operating system and application patching
      • Engage in industrial networking and operational technology (OT) security practices
      • Gain experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) & Control System Hardware, Human Machine Interface (HMI) software, along with lots of windows troubleshooting and end user interaction
      • Develop and maintain technical documentation
      • Facilitate and support cybersecurity best practices, incident response and forensics
      • Plan, coordinate and communicate all system changes
      • Occasional travel to various sites with a company vehicle, eventually unescorted

      Qualifications

      • Background in Computer Science or Engineering is required
      • Enrolled in a recognized and accredited Canadian post-secondary institution throughout the duration of the co-op term, returning to a post-secondary institution after the co-op term is completed
      • Able to efficiently communicate with plant operators and superintendents equally
      • Able to demonstrate creative problem solving, good interpersonal skills and organization skills with solid understanding of Windows environment
      • Analytical skills and strong communication skills are required
      • SQL or PowerShell skills is an asset
      • Some exposure to PLC/HMI systems and misc smart sensors is an asset
      • Experience with server administration, networking & cybersecurity exposure is an asset
      • Good vehicle awareness (pickup truck w 4WD) and a legal driver's license is required
      • Any previous exposure to control systems is an asset
      • Willing to work in an industrial environment
      • Able to work effectively independently as well as part of the team
      • Proven ability to learn innovative technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently
      • Ability to communicate with precision in a technical environment
      • Able to articulate complex concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand
