      This position is located at the DCF Headquarters in Tallahassee.

      The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the state of Florida’s social services agency. The agency oversees services for child safety, fostering, adoption, domestic violence, adult protective services, refugees, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, child care providers, human trafficking and public assistance. The agency’s mission is to work in partnership with local communities to protect the vulnerable, promote strong and economically self-sufficient families, and advance personal and family recovery and resiliency.

      Within DCF, the Economic Self-Sufficiency (ESS) Program helps to promote strong and economically self-sufficient communities by determining eligibility for food, cash and medical assistance for individuals and families on the road to economic recovery.

      Under the ESS Program, the Office of Public Benefits Integrity (OPBI) is responsible for investigating public assistance fraud or misuse regarding the SNAP (Food Assistance), TANF (Cash Assistance), and Medicaid programs by individuals or merchants.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Two years of administrative or clerical work experience, OR college education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.
      • Proficiency or certification in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)

      POSITION DESCRIPTION:

      This position is an Other Personal Services (OPS) position. For more information on this classification, please see the Dept. of Management Services website, or the DCF Human Resources policy for OPS employment.

      This position is with the Office of Public Benefits Integrity Program

      This is a full-time position, and the incumbent will work no more than 40 hours per week.

      The primary responsibility of this position is to assists with various special projects as needed in support of OPBI. Strong customer service skills with a working knowledge of the ESS program are ideal to be successful in this position.

      Duties include assisting in fraud investigations and provides support in the recovery of funds lost due to waste, fraud, or abuse.

      Incumbent is qualified to have specified personal information exempt from public record inspection per Florida Statute.

      Incumbent is a member of the DCF DSNAP Disaster Response team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and travel in support of disaster relief. During such events, incumbent may be required to work more than 8 hours a day.

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Complete monthly mail merge of pending letters and cover sheets
      • Manage and track external email correspondence
      • Manage and track faxes
      • Complete large qualities of screen prints for case
      • Conduct interviews or assist with case completion
      • Manage and track notices
      • Manage all monthly tracking reports
      • Receive and track incoming calls
      • Good organizational skills, attention to detail and an ability to work independently with minimum supervision is required.
      • A good attendance record is essential for any individual in this position as the work involved occurs daily and is time critical.

      KNOWLEDEGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

      • Knowledge of the public assistance program objectives and policies is preferred but not necessary.
      • Ability to conduct fact-finding research necessary to detect and evaluate potential fraudulent situations.
      • Analyze and interpret written, numerical, and verbal data from various sources.
      • Be detail oriented and enter data accurately into a computerized system.
      • Navigate through computer screens and compare and review basic computer documents and other forms.
      • Be proficient in the use of a computer including exceptional typing skills.
      • Prioritize and meet deadlines; establish and maintain effective working relationships; communicate effectively
      • Ability to apply ethical business practices.
      • Skilled in operating computers and related software packages.
