- Act as principle contact and liaison function with all University of Toronto stakeholders related to building operations, caretaking, elevators/escalators, and maintenance.
- Provide administrative and project support to the Manager. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparing reports, statistics, inventory count and data related to building operations and capital projects.
- Monitor the work order status and follow up if needed, inspect completed work orders for quality, accuracy, and report deficiencies.
- Recommends improvements to the facilities and operations function of the UTL (i.e. environmental initiatives, development and upkeep of UTL operations and facilities maintenance manual)
- Responsible for the processing of telecommunications for the UTL, including, processing of orders, following up on implementation, communication of installation details, ordering hardware, updating master telecommunication spreadsheet used for billing and data management and updating internal and University listings to ensure accurate information is available both internally and externally. Reviews telephone billing for Financial Services processing.
- Coordinates building access for contractors, during and after business hours. Occasional early morning and/or late-night/weekend/holiday access will be required.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in with building operations & maintenance
- Demonstrated experience maintaining buildings built in different eras. Ranging from heritage to new built.
- Demonstrated working experience with Elevator and Escalator maintenance
- Demonstrated working experience with Building security system such and Salto, Honeywell…etc.
- Working experience with Building/Office management such as telecommunication systems, minor facility maintenance/repair, supply management…etc.
- Troubleshooting experience with hybrid meeting and AV system.
- Experience working within a University environment desirable
- Clear verbal and written communication required.
- Working at Heights Training certificate desirable
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Adobe Suite or related software desirable
- Project Management experience is desirable.

This array of college libraries, special collections, and specialized libraries and information centres supports the teaching and research requirements of 300 graduate programs, over 70 professional programs, and more than 700 undergraduate degree programs. More than 150,000 new print volumes are acquired each year. The Libraries data centre houses more than 200 servers with a storage capacity of 1.5 petabytes.
Your Opportunity:
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Capital Projects and Planning, the Operations and Building Services Officer is responsible for the administration of building operations and service requirements of the Central Library (UTL) buildings in order to ensure the services and facilities continue to operate in an efficient and effective manner.
The Operations and Building Services Officer assists in coordinating the general operation and maintenance functions of the Library's three main locations - Robarts Library, Fisher Library and Gerstein Science Information Centre, plus other libraries located at various faculty buildings (OISE, Engineering and Computer Sciences, Earth Sciences, Math, etc.), and helps coordinates the UTL's facility development, space optimization and renewal initiatives. The incumbent will be customer service oriented and have experience related to building operations and maintenance within a University Environment. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining the Building Operations and Maintenance Manual, under the guidance of the Manager.
This is a 100% onsite position.
