      Applications are invited for the post of Operations Auditor based at our newly acquired Queens Road Depot but covering the Manchester network.

      With over 1800 colleagues spread across multiple sites; Stagecoach Manchester is one of the country’s biggest bus operators. We are recruiting an Operations Auditor to join the team, as we expand our business due to the successful award of Greater Manchester Franchising contracts.

      This is a permanent position that will work under the Operations Director..

      We are looking for an experienced Auditor to fill a full time permanent role. Your skills will help position Stagecoach Manchester to meet performance targets within budgeted cost limits.

      Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for the efficient and cost-effective audit of depots within Manchester, ensuring that performance targets are met within budgeted cost limits and to the standard operating procedures expected by both Stagecoach UK Bus and Transport for Greater Manchester. Ensure Operations Managers & Assistants as well as Engineering, Commercial and Company Directors fully understand the levels of performance required and are compliant with operating procedures, statutory law and regulatory law.

      The role fits Stagecoach by ensuring there is a consistent audit approach throughout UK Bus, which fosters a consistent approach within depots leading to compliance with operating procedures, statutory law and regulatory law.

      The role exists to ensure the Company’s reputation remains intact, through effective auditing of staff, policies, procedures, regulatory and legal obligations

      Principal Accountabilities:

      • To audit and address any issues of non-compliance of operational standards as detailed in the SAQ and/or general transport legislation, as well as any requirements set by TfGM.

      • To identify through audit, any shortfall in operational performance at Manchester depots and report on this accordingly, supporting with finding and implementing a workable solution if appropriate.

      • To support the Head of Operations in updating and maintaining operational documentation and policies/procedures.

      • To display a leadership style and set of behaviours that motivates colleagues to achieve targets and contributes to the development of a positive management culture within the business.

      • To demonstrate and lead Operational, Engineering and Commercial teams in behaviours, which support the principles of Stagecoach.

      • To support, if required, the audit process in other franchised locations as and when the need arises.

      Person requirements, qualifications, experience and competencies
      • Demonstrable experience in effective internal and external relationship building.
      • Knowledge of relevant transport legislation, both regulatory and statutory.
      • Excellent time management skills, able to embrace challenging tasks, often with tight deadlines and budgets.
      • Confident interfacing with Managers and Directors in a professional manner.
      • Transport Manager CPC qualification is desirable, but not essential. The successful postholder will be expected to attain the qualification if they do not already hold it, with full training provided.
      • Experience of, or qualification in, internal auditing is desirable but not essential.
