      The Operations Control Room (OCC) Operator has the knowledge, experience and required skills to assist in safely and effectively monitoring and operating all field equipment and processes via SCADA.

      As a key member of the production team, the OCC Operator primarily assists in monitoring the field processes and emergency response responsibilities, assists in the remote operation of equipment, and recognizes field operational problems and takes remedial actions to ensure safety and production goals are met in accordance with Ovintiv policy, constitution and practice standards.

      This position is located in Grande Prairie, Alberta and it is a requirement of the role to live in the market. This position includes a rotating day and night schedule.

      Responsibilities

      · Ensures standard safety and environmental practices and procedures are reviewed and followed.

      · Sets a good example and promotes safety in all environments.

      · Monitors all field asset safety and environmental alarms and shutdowns, and works with field staff to apply immediate corrective action as required to resolve the alarm or shutdown condition.

      · Acts as a field contact to manage working alone situations.

      · Communicates with maintenance and operations staff through personal contact and Blackline Safety to ensure personnel safety.

      · Key participant in actual and routine simulated field safety practices such as Man-down and ERP rescue procedures.

      · Reports safety or environmental violations to senior staff in accordance with Ovintiv safety and environmental practices and takes corrective action as requested.

      · Issues corrective work orders to repair/resolve faulty equipment affecting safety or environmental systems.

      · Follows proper procedures for startup and shutdown of all field equipment

      · D emonstrate s and maintains the SCADA operation of the monitored field areas.

      · Monitor and focus on area production rates to the well level; proactively work with area operation and maintenance staff to continually optimize and maximize field production rates on a continual results-oriented basis.

      · Shares knowledge freely, proactively recognizes the need to balance team workloads and participates in the training of fellow employees.

      · Demonstrates a consultative approach with members of the production team.

      · Informs all members of the production team of any changes or updates in the work environment and supports and initiates required change.

      · Informs field and plant operations\maintenance staff of issues as required.

      · Understands and focuses on achieving company objectives and policies.

      · Independently plans, prioritizes and completes routine activities around necessary interruptions.

      · Completes work within time frames.

      · Handle other special projects as assigned.

      · Offers positive input into meetings and discussions.

      Qualifications

      · Three or more years of field or plant operations or trades work .

      · Has the ability to understand the area field infrastructure and processes.

      · Ability to identify hazards and report to senior staff.

      · Ability to understand and troubleshoot production issues and take timely corrective action.

      · Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.

      · Must be comfortable completing tasks on a computer for entire shift.

      · Effective planning and organizational skills.

      · Team player with the ability to coordinate with many different groups.

      · Shows initiative to learn new tasks.

      · Innovative forward-thinking attitude.

      · Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
