      About the workplace

      This is a full-time, permanent role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, you’ll be required to attend in-person activities or events.

      Vancity is looking for a talented individual with strong administrative, technical and trading skills to perform the dealer functions related to VCIM’s portfolio management business while working with members, vendors and strategic partners to manage and grow our business while mitigating risk. With your natural problem-solving capabilities, you will work as part of a team running the day-to-day trading and dealer operations, in service of this organization and its members.

      The Role: Operations Specialist (VCIM)

      A typical day would involve:

      • Operating and maintaining the portfolio management system, order management systems and custody platforms used to deliver recurring workflows supporting the business
      • Documenting, implementing and enhancing recurring dealer workflows required to operate the portfolio management business, service members and achieve strategic objectives
      • Supporting the trading, reporting and data integrity workflows
      • Maintaining relationships with key strategic system vendors to perform dealer functions and investigate and resolve dealer issues raised by member-facing teams
      • Participating in projects and initiatives involving multi-disciplinary teams

      You are:

      • A decisive problem solver - You diagnose challenges and issues, develop innovative business solutions and assess risks and opportunities that may affect the business
      • An excellent communicator - You use your written, spoken and interpersonal skills to act as a resource for the specialized area and provide insights, advice and explanations while responding to inquiries and supporting the investment management and member-facing teams
      • A self-starter and organized planner - You use your coordination skills to create the best approach to address analytical, reporting and business challenges as efficiently as possible

      You have:

      • An undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, related field
      • 3-5 years’ experience in back and middle office operations at a Portfolio Manager or dealer, preferably in a multi-custodian environment
      • Experience working with portfolio management software
      • Strong relationship management skills while working in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and competing priorities
      • A working knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures and policies governing this work

      The Team: The Operations Specialist (VCIM) will report to the Head of Trading and Operations

      The salary range for the role is $71,500 to $107,300 and a candidate’s offer is likely to be up to the mid-point of the role ($89,400) . The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.
