      Please note the starting salary hiring range for this position is $41,413 = $54,289

      Performs intermediate technical level operations service work. Primary duties include supporting operations of the Self Container Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and Respiratory Protection programs, this work will include technical repairs and maintenance work. Additional duties include supporting the operations of the oxygen generation and logistics programs.

      CLASS DESCRIPTION:
      Performs intermediate technical level operations service work under general supervision from a technical superior. Work includes the installation, repair, operation, preventive maintenance and care of mechanical and electrical equipment, heavy motor and construction equipment, complex mechanical equipment, and hand and power tools; performing skilled laboring tasks; repair, maintenance and installation of a variety of electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic instruments and systems; maintaining and repairing breathing apparatus and other air/oxygen equipment or machines. Work also includes maintenance of park lands, government properties, and related facilities and structures; tree care and applying regulated horticultural and landscaping practices; and maintaining physical inventories including receiving and issuing equipment and supplies, requisitioning supplies and materials, record keeping, and maintenance of a perpetual inventory of all materials.       Works and cooperates with co-workers and supervisors at all levels.

      Learns and performs all essential job functions accurately.

      Ensure transportation and storage of compressed gas cylinders are in accordance with all applicable laws and standards.

      Pickup damaged or broken SCBA and SCBA cylinders and delivers to SCBA shop for repair. Delivers repaired SCBA and SCBA cylinders to respective stations.

      Creates and executes scheduling for SCBA cylinder testing.

      When operating the van or truck, is responsible for general cleanliness, replenishment of gasoline and washer fluid and maintaining proper tire pressure of the vehicles. Notifies supervisor of any maintenance issues and take the vehicle to the repair shop to obtain any necessary service/repairs.

      Maintains SCBA, in accordance with NFPA 1852: Standard on Selection, Care, and maintenance on Open-Circuit Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) as well as guidelines pertaining to NFPA 1981.

      Maintain all service records involving SCBA.

      Maintains parts inventory and notifies supervisor when replenishment is required.

      Assists with program to administer fit testing for all employees per OSHA 1910.134.

      Performs quarterly air tests on all breathing air compressors in the county.

      This job has no supervisory responsibilities.High School Diploma or GED and three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      PREFERRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
      Commercial Drivers License-Class B
      Familiarity with database and data entry.
      Familiarity with PC operations and Microsoft office programs.
      Knowledge of NFPA standards.
      Knowledge of OSHA/MOSH standards.
      Knowledge of DOT standards.

      Ability to obtain CDL with Hazmat endorsement.
