      JOB SUMMARY

      MOH Business and Development Support Services manages and integrates the delivery of corporate services functions (HR, Legal, Finance, and Privacy) to OPH, leads the establishment and implementation of financial and business practices and decision making tools for departmental priorities and programs, conducts business planning for the department, identifies and resolves high priority issues, designs and oversees complex department-wide projects, and provides strategic advice to the Board of Health, Medical Officer of Health and leadership team on a wide variety of departmental priorities, issues management techniques, and governance recommendations.

      You are responsible for providing project coordination support to the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) and the senior leadership team (SLT) in the planning, development, and coordination of internal communication strategies and projects. You provide communications advice, draft communication plans, and work in collaboration with the Public Engagement and Legislative Affairs Service to ensure consistency in approach and messaging to the public and employees.

      Internal communications assist with fostering a culturally safe and humble organization and advancing strategic priorities, through attention to equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigeneity and accessibility.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

      Completion of 3-year university degree or college diploma in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field

      Minimum of 3 years of experience in a large organization with related experience in the planning, development and implementation of related activities including communications, journalism, public relations.

      KNOWLEDGE

      • Professional communications techniques and practices, including materials production
      • Marketing management and principles
      • Project management principles and techniques
      • Website maintenance
      • Microsoft Office Suite, desktop publishing, and layout
      • Trends in communication industry and approaches
      • Sound knowledge of print production process and understanding of electronic media production (e.g. internet)
      • General knowledge of best practices related to communications
      • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

      • Effective verbal and written communication skills
      • Ability to prepare comprehensive and effective communication strategies to diverse audiences
      • Ability to produce effective informational and promotional materials, including advertisements, newsletters, brochures, etc. and to maintain a website
      • Ability to organize workload, develop work plans, project budgets and schedules
      • Well developed interpersonal skills; proven ability to interact and communicate effectively and harmoniously with the clients, volunteers, city staff and industry colleagues;
      • Ability to coordinate and liaise with, designers, printers and other suppliers
      • Ability to draft correspondence in response to inquiries from the public and from elected officials
      • Excellent interpersonal skills
      • Demonstrate good judgment, tact, discretion, creative problem solving skills and initiative
      • Outgoing and enthusiastic
      • Organized and dependable; creative and imaginative

      WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

      • Language Requirement: Designated Day 1 Ready – immediate requirement for language proficiency: French: oral, reading, writing English: oral, reading, writing Candidates must meet language requirement for position upon hire.
      • Immunization Policy: OPH has an immunization policy requiring all employees to report their COVID-19 and Influenza vaccination status annually
