      Overview

      JOB SUMMARY

      Ophthalmic Technician duties include working with patients and physicians for examination and treatment of the eyes.

      Responsibilities

      JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Greet patients and escort them to room.
      • Obtain patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medications and allergies, and eye history.
      • Check patient’s eye prescription with lensometer.
      • Check patients vision, pupils, motility, visual field, IOP, Color vision.
      • Complete refraction of patient.
      • Complete eye dilation on patients as applicable.
      • Also includes having consent forms signed and helping with lasers and injects in office
      • Cleaning instruments and exam rooms
      • Maintain and stock rooms with supplies.
      • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
      • Adheres to organizational policy and procedure.
      • Translating for patients if applicable.
      • All other duties as assigned

      Qualifications

      MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

      • High school diploma or GED will be required.
      • JCAHPO certification and COA/COT preferred.
      • Knowledge of ophthalmic testing a plus.
      • The ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

      • Working in “Plus Cylinder” for refracting with phoroptor
      • Knowledge of Tonopen, Lensometer, IOL Master, HRT, OCT, HFV, Wavefront Auto-Refractor/Toppgrapher

      WORKING CONDITIONS

      • Normal health clinic environment
      • Must be able to work with pediatric patients
      • Must be able to work at satellite offices
