Job Description
- Req#: 24329
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- A minimum of one (1) year ophthalmic experience.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Card required.
- JCAHPO certification is preferred.
SUMMARY
The Ophthalmic Technician collects data and measurements to allow the correct diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and problems. ASSESSMENT – Participates in the collection and analysis of data related to care delivery and reports critical findings to the Registered Nurse and/or Physician. PLANNING and COLLABORATION– Participates in the development of the individualized plan of care that identifies strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team as appropriate. IMPLEMENTATION – Participates in the execution of the individualized patient/family plan. EVALUATION – Participates in the evaluation process toward achievement of outcomes. PATIENT ADVOCACY - Advocates for the patient/family rights and educates patient/family concerning their responsibilities. TEACHING – Provides education to patient/family and other health care workers. PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT / QUALITY OF PRACTICE – Participates in continuous performance improvement and provides direct personal patient observation, care, and assistance.
