      Job summary

      A wonderful opportunity to work for Swansea Bay University Health Board as part of our ophthalmology team. We are excited to offer this band 3 ophthalmic technician post and are sure it will provide the successful candidate with a rewarding and interesting career with further development opportunities in the field of ophthalmology.

      Join our dynamic and ambitious multidisiplinary team which includes 15 consultants, advanced non-medical nurse, orthoptic and optometric practitioners, ophthalmic technicians and ophthalmic health care assistants.       The position requires independent working although supervision is available within the Ophthalmology clinic. Some decision making is required. Full theoretical and practical training and support will be given to the successful candidate.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will work in ophthalmology outpatient clinics where they will provide high quality individualised care to a defined group of service users. They will perform tests which may include visual acuity testing, dilating patients, OCT and imaging using the Optos camera, visual field testing, pachymetry and tonometry.

      The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
