- Operates a multi-telephone line system, answers the telephone lines, and responds appropriately to inquiries. Enters data into the clemency database.
- Prepares files for scanning and then scans the files. Timely and accurately updates progress within an Excel tracking document.
- Organize scanned documents behind the appropriate sections/dividers.
- Receive, process, copy, scan, and distribute clemency applications.
- Receive and process new Request for Review applications, to include preparing correspondence to be sent appropriate staff or applicant; placing correspondence received in each applicant’s file; and assist with preparing and copying documents. Update information in the applicant’s file and/or clemency database.
- Assist with maintaining files, records, materials, correspondence, documents, reports, and other material pertaining to clemency applications.
- Assist with processing; maintaining; and arranging for storage and retrieval of archived documents, records, and reports.
- Perform other duties required.
- Knowledge of proper grammar and general office procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and, Excel.
- Knowledge of criminal justice/court related documents.
- Possess active listening skills with problem solving/critical thinking capabilities.
- Ability to prepare and maintain confidential and accurate information.
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
- Ability to adapt, be flexible, and multi-task between assignments.

The Florida Commission on Offender Review, formerly known as the Florida Parole Commission, is looking to fill the Civil Rights Specialist – OPS position. The Commission on Offender Review performs a vital role in Florida’s criminal justice system by preserving the autonomy needed in post-release decisions affecting inmates and ex-offenders. Commissioners preside over weekly meetings at the central office in Tallahassee and various other state locations as required by statute. During these public proceedings, the commissioners make a variety of determinations regarding parole and other releases .
This position assists the Coordinator in carrying out the mission of the Office of Executive Clemency as set forth, crafted and designed by the Board of Executive Clemency. The incumbent is heavy relied upon and trusted by the Coordinator to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
