District 97 Portrait of an Eighth Grade Graduate aligned out-of-school time programming
Community partnerships
Professional learning in the out-of-school time space
Student voice, choice and engagement as a driver for out-of-school time programming
Support annual strategic planning and continuous improvement cycles inclusive of deep engagement around the Portrait of an Oak Park Eighth-Grade Graduate
Systematize an approach for meaningful, equitable engagement practices or approaches that reflect the values of a diverse range of families, as well as systems that foster tailored supports, flexible engagement options, and coordination between families, schools, and the district outside of the school day.
Stand up an Oak Park Student Advisory (Board or committee). The Oak Park Student Advisory will be able to demonstrate influence in the implementation of the Portrait of an Oak Park Graduate in the following ways:
designing out of school time projects, clubs and activities aligned to the Portrait
developing pathways to communicate about the Portrait with peers
developing pathways for the advisory to have stakeholder influence in critical decisions aligned to the Portrait and beyond

Facilitate and coordinate cross-functional, cross-departmental teacher teams to apply and operationalize District 97’s Equity Policy and the Portrait of an Oak Park Eighth-Grade Graduate as well as strategies that support empowering families and communities and building trust with the district in the out-of-school time space.
Collaborate with school and district leaders to develop and implement, practices, and culturally responsive engagement strategies that reflect the diverse backgrounds of students and families.
Partner with administration to act as a systems change agent to create an environment promoting and supporting student success
Work directly with administration to use data to identify how school, district, and state educational policies, procedures, and practices support and/or impede student success during out-of-school time
Support and guide students and families to school or community resources for additional assistance and information.
Support coordination with external partners, to align equity efforts village-wide.
Partner with administration to utilize other workstreams, projects, and duties as assigned or necessary for district success.
Ability set high standards and effectively support schools and community partners in realizing expectations set
Experience working collaboratively with community partners, families, colleagues, and local organizations
Demonstrated success in designing and implementing structures aimed at promoting equity, family, and community empowerment in educational settings
Understanding of federal, state, and local education policies and regulations related to equity and family & community engagement
Strong communication skills (speaking - including presentations - listening, and writing)
Demonstrate high levels of instructional expertise, integrity, honesty, credibility, and the courage to make difficult yet necessary decisions.
Effective strategic planning capabilities, including establishing goals and aligning/managing activities toward goal fulfillment
Strong leadership and team building skills, e.g., supporting high-performing teams united around a clear vision for serving schools and achieving student success
Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with a variety of constituent groups, including external partners, to ensure the entire system operates in the most effective manner possible to support schools and principals
Ability to define problems, analyze data, and outline valid conclusions and action steps
A degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related discipline is required.
Candidates must hold an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL).
Master’s degree in Education Administration, Public Administration/Policy, Social Justice, or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
Three or more years of experience working in a racially, culturally and/or linguistically diverse school district.

About This Role
The OPTA Community Learning and Entrepreneurialism Coordinator supports and collaborates with administration to bring the Portrait of an Oak Park 8th Grade Graduate to life in the Oak Park community. Our Portrait provides a frame for smart engagement during out-of-school and at-home time. It is also a central strategy in our district transformation goals. We will use the Portrait to level the playing field in order to meet the expectations of Board Policy 7:12: Ensuring Racial and Educational Equity. All OPTA Coordinator positions will directly advise leadership of the district as a member of the Superintendent’s OPTA Coordinator Advisory.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the performance of light work—which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere. The position requires indoor and outdoor supervision during varying temperatures and climatic conditions.
