      AOA Xinetics (AOX), a wholly owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division Business Unit, is a leading supplier of complex electro-optic and photonic systems and subsystems that control and manipulate light waves for a variety of applications.       AOX is an end-to-end engineering company that creates solutions, puts them into practice, and manufactures them. We develop solutions to some of the nation’s hardest technical challenges leveraging advanced technical capabilities in optical, mechanical, software, electronics controls, systems, test and manufacturing engineering to perform applied research, engineering development, and precision manufacturing. We are seeking an Optical Technician 3 to support our Special Programs Team in East Hartford, CT.

      Role and Responsibilities:

      Reporting to the Production Manager, the Optical Technician 3 will perform assembly, testing and assigned technical manufacturing tasks to meet program requirements. This position will involve assembly and testing of complex electro optic assemblies, optical modules and sub modules containing optical and fiber optic based components with guidance from principal engineers and scientists. Primary job duties will include developing and setting up work areas to assemble and test optical module assemblies. Additional duties may include setting up experiments and optical test equipment, conducting tests, and recording data. The position may involve assembly and alignment of mechanical and/or opto-mechanical subassemblies, machining/fabricating parts and some electronic assembly, as well as work process and other documentation.

      Basic Qualifications:

      • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

      • 5+ years of experience with optical and electrical assembly, systems, components and test equipment; small part soldering, cable & harness fabrication

      • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blue prints

      • Use of basic hand tools

      • Strong attention to detail and good verbal/written communication skills

      • Proficient Microsoft Office skills

      • U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for employment

      • Ability to obtain a DoD Clearance

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • 2 year Associates Degree in optics, fiber optics or laser electro optics technology or related technical field

      • 10 years of experience with optical and electrical systems, components and test equipment

      • IPC J-STD-001 Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies Certification

      • IPC 620 Cable and Wire Harness Fabrication Certification

      • Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance

      Salary Range: $57,800.00 - $96,300.00

      The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

      Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
