      **You’ll enjoy the flexibility to either work in the office (Eden Prairie, MN) or work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. **

      Multiple roles available - Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

      • Client Reporting
        • Participate in report design, project management, data analysis, process automation and training activities that help improve the way we communicate the value of Optum products and services to our customers
        • Collaborate with various internal partners including product development, sales, and account management
        • Assist internal teams with self-service reporting
      • Product & Data Services - Internal Communications
        • Partner across multiple sub-teams to identify current services, deliverables and value statements and correlate common value delivery functions
        • Assist in updating the team’s aggregate value story to reflect the breadth and depth of individual sub-teams
        • Research and update team materials and content on SharePoint to improve clarity for team members and business partners
      • Product & Data Services - Technical Programs
        • Assess team processes and identify opportunities to apply technology, automation and process changes across team operations to improve quality, control and efficiency
        • Partner with the team to evaluate technical process flows
        • Design user stories to support implementation of improvement strategies
        • Create and share a proposal for changes, including benefits analysis
      • Quality Control
        • Participate in policy and job aide documentation, process mapping and reviews of federal and state requirements to assist in creating operational job aides
        • Perform root cause analysis and recommend process improvements
        • Identify opportunities for efficiency savings and lead projects to drive process changes
        • Assist with reporting simplification and automation
      • Enterprise Eligibility
        • Work closely with development, business and technical operations teams and partners to ensure business needs are being delivered according to expectations and to gain an understanding of business needs across the enterprise (UnitedHealth Group Tech, Optum and United HealthCare)
        • Support and work with operational workflows and business needs for product owners and/or capability managers aligned to multiple business areas
        • Gain experience identifying opportunities to better streamline efficiencies
        • Research and update materials that support the enterprise tech forward initiatives
      • Enterprise Provider Capabilities
        • Work closely with product and operations teams and partners to ensure business needs are being delivered according to expectations and to gain an understanding of business needs across the enterprise (UnitedHealth Group Tech, Optum and United HealthCare)
        • Provide application operational support to manage issues including incident logging, defect submittals and approvals for completed work
        • Update and enhance process documentation for operational workflows
        • Create and collect user survey feedback to identify areas for improvement across applications
        • Review and refresh standard materials and communications for each solution to update our internal presentation library
      • Enterprise Reporting and Analytics (Data Analyst)
        • With guidance, analyze and investigate data and complex issues using business Intelligence tools to produce findings that may be shared with others
        • With guidance, create business intelligence solutions and models to support existing analyses, perform new analysis, interpret results, develop actionable insights and present recommendations for use across the company
        • With guidance, develop tools and models such as segmentation, dashboards, data visualizations, decision aids and business case analysis
      • Enterprise Reporting and Analytics (Reporting Developer)
        • Develop automation, publication and maintenance of data visualizations, reports, and dashboards using tools including Power BI and Tableau
        • Develop automated flat files and associated delivery mechanisms
        • Schedule report refreshes and monitor for quality
        • Document reports in data catalog (Collibra) and ensure compliance with security restrictions on data use
        • Partner with Business Analyst to support changes/enhancements to meet evolving business needs
      • Enterprise Readiness, Delivery and Performance
        • Gain valuable insights regarding end-to-end business processes related to customer exceptions and performance guarantees by shadowing leaders and updating data in our tracking systems
        • Project Management - ownership/support of projects in an effort to more effectively manage the business
        • Create business case presentations and present data trends with Underwriting, Product and/or Operational teams that advise on considerations and risk analysis, including revenue and reputational impacts
        • Drive continuous productivity within Optum’s products and services to optimize customer onboarding/implementation through operational support
        • Work directly with requesters, operations and product subject matter experts on the end-to-end exception workflow/process
      • Issue Management- Enterprise Readiness, Delivery and Performance
        • Create process and governance documentation including flow charts, PowerPoint slides, responsibility charts (RACI) and more
        • Solicit feedback from subject matter experts in the enterprise to further enhance operational processes and technology solutions
        • Perform root cause analysis and assess data integrity of issue management data
        • Collaborate with Analytics team and Issue Management portfolio leaders to document and present trends and recommendations for action
        • Gain exposure to business groups within Optum and their issue management performance data and opportunities
        • Support technology deployments and enhancements on the issue management system
      • Enterprise Training Operations
        • Project Management - ownership/support of projects in an effort to more effectively manage the business
        • Work across functions and roles, both within the training team and operations team to accomplish goals of the operations
        • Conduct analysis/reporting for training projects relating to efficiencies, project selection, individual staff metrics, program level metrics, and research into issues.
        • Process documentation and mapping
        • Analysis and development of training solutions to support operations and/or training team initiatives
      • Enterprise Workforce Optimization
        • Perform project management activities including process documentation and mapping, and participate in process improvement projects to work more efficiently
        • Work across functions and roles, within the Enterprise Workforce Optimization team to learn how multiple capabilities support Optum’s workforce
        • Conduct analysis and reporting for projects relating to efficiencies, project selection, metrics, risks and opportunities, and research issues
        • Apply technology solutions to solve problems
        • Drive continuous quality improvement by executing initiatives that improve the performance of the team
        • Execute change management strategies in implementations and initiatives supporting the Employee Experience
      • Omni-Channel
        • Gain a high-level understanding of Agile delivery concepts and Omni-Channel migration strategies
        • Introduce product management best practices for Product Manager and Product Owner roles and support these roles in requirements gathering and analysis
        • Participate in policy and procedure documentation
        • Assist with documenting and prioritizing work efforts
        • Help to identify gaps and drive process improvement opportunities
        • Support communications and change management efforts

      Required Qualifications:

      • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college / university during the duration of the internship. Internships are not intended for graduating seniors
      • Proven solid communications, interpersonal and collaboration skills and curious mindset
      • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, data analytics, data management, information sciences, information systems, information technology, health management, communications or another related field
      • Minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA
      • Experience with Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Word) and/or other tools such as PowerApps, SQL queries, Power BI, Tableau and Visio
      • Familiarity with business processes, data management, business analysis and/or project management concepts

      California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The hourly range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $16.00 to $19.38 per hour.
